BeautifulFreedom2 is an original mixed media piece on an upcycled bulletin board. Created in 2023, the piece highlights the beauty of our blackness, broad nose, full lips and natural hair, which are often ridiculed and dismissed as unattractive. The expressive piece also celebrates the richness of Black cultures incorporating African Adinkra and Egyptian symbols, geometric shapes, solid black lines and impressions of graffiti to create a vibrant exhibition. The one eye of the muse symbolizes divine oversight. Jeanty was honored when the piece was selected for exhibition at the NYC Van Der Plas Gallery in 2024.
