PiecesOf A Man 3 -- Prints

Pieces of a Man 3 is an original 24x36 inch mixed media piece hand drawn and then enhanced digitally. It is one in a series of six pieces based on Gil Scott Heron’s song “Pieces of a Man.” The works capture the feelings of brokenness that many Black men experience for a variety of reasons including societal pressures, discrimination, illness, unhealed trauma and feelings of despair. It also captures the strength of Black men as we navigate these forlorn feelings to embrace our brilliance, vibrance, style, perseverance, tenacity, commitment, hope, beauty and power. The blackened eyes represent our divinity and connection to the spiritual world as we are created in the image of the Most High and wonderfully made.
