Beautiful Sun is an original 11x17 inch mixed media piece on cardstock paper created in 2023 incorporating acrylic paint, permanent and paint marker. The black silhouette, including the shaved head, highlights the beauty of our blackness which is often ridiculed and dismissed as unattractive. The expressive piece also celebrates the richness of Black cultures, incorporating African Adinkra symbols, Haitian coat of arms symbols, geometric shapes, crosshatching, solid black lines and impressions of graffiti to create a vibrant exhibition.  Add this piece to your collection and promote a sense of calmness and relaxation while paying tribute to the complexity, beauty, and power of the Black female spirit.
